In general, we want to let search engines and people to know that we have updated our blog, and that can be done by pinging ping servers which would in turn ping other web services like feed aggregators and blog search engines.

If you purchased the domain and web hosting service as suggested, you will probably need to wait a day or two before you can work on your blog.. so it’s a good day to sit down and write about your goals.
Write it down on paper, what do you want to achieve from your blog? What do you want to get from blogging in long term? 5 years, or 3 years from now? Short term goal in 12 months? What is your goal?

There are 2 options when it comes to domain and web hosting.. free, or paid.
Free blog hosting are like services provided by Blogger and Xanga etc. You don’t need to pay for the hosting nor domain. In fact you don’t really have a domain, your blog will have URLs like xxxx.blogspot.com if you are using the free services.
