Many webmasters have heard of the terms Web 2.0, but what really is Web 2.0?

From Wikipedia… Web 2.0 is a phrase coined by O‚ÄôReilly Media in 2004, which refers to a supposed second-generation of Internet-based services; such as social networking sites, wikis, communication tools, and folksonomies; which let people collaborate and share information online in ways previously unavailable.

In other words, Web 2.0 is an internet business model that has developed during the transition of dot com frenzies in late 90s, to a steady and profitable business model currently. Web 2.0 is not something that happens in an instant, some of the concepts were initiated in the late 90s.

The general criteria for Web 2.0 involve leverage of web users’ contribution, interaction between the community, and the use of innovative technology.
